Android, which is flying high in bright colors beating all those OS in the market, is now ready to get VLC app and it is expected to be available for download in next few days via Google Play store. VLC for Android is still in the beta stage and it is one of the most anticipated apps for Android.
Just like the desktop version, VLC for Android will feature an universal media player. The applications was under development for a year and unofficial build was posted online in March. Here is a list of features that are expected to be blessed with the VLC app for Android.
- Able to play all types of media file formats
- AV media library, with full search
- Supports from Android from 2.1 (Eclair) to the latest ICS version
- Multi audio or subtitles tracks selection
- Network streams
- Gestures, headphones control
- Multi-core decoding, for Cortex-A7 A9 and A15 chips
- Subtitles support, embedded and external, including ASS and DVD subtitles
- Experimental hardware decoding
Note : VLC for iOS was taken off due to licensing issues a couple of months ago on the Apple App Store
