MTS launches MTS MTag 401 Android phone for Rs 8,999

MTS the CDMA Mobile service of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL) with 16 million mobile and data subscribers has officially launched the new smart phone MTS MTAG 401, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 Processor which has speed of 800 megahertz and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform which allows user to download multiple applications from Google.

Price in India: Rs 8,999

A company release said the product is priced around Rs 9,000 along with unlimited data plans like three-month unlimited internet access offer and MTS to MTS local calls from the time of activation. In MTS’s Android portfolio this is its 4th device. MTS is the leading integrated telecom provider in Russia. The group has been offering services like mobile and fixed-line, broadband, and pay-TV, as well as content and entertainment services, in one of the world’s fastest growing regions.

MTS India Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Leonid Musatov said that “MTS MTag 401 unlimited data plans and local MTS to MTS calls are available in both prepaid and post-paid.”

The product has a 4.0” capacitive touch-display and a resolution of 800 x 480. It also features a 3 megapixel camera and a 2 GB micro SD card. The expandable memory slot supports a maximum of 32 GB. The phone has MTS TV application which allows users to watch Live TV with more than 100 channels on the move. The phone comes with a 1700 mAh battery.

MTS India is also planning to launch soon 7-inch Tablet PC based on Android 2.2 Froyo platform which will be also bundled with applications and free data usage. A of now the company has not reviled the exact availability or the pricing of the Tablet.
